Weekend Update
Sunday, May 29, 2011
So a while ago, after returning from a trip to one of my favorite city’s BERKELEY I went on a henna craze and me and my friends would get together every weekend and henna ourselves and each other. I would have continued decorating my skin with the stuff, if I hadn’t run out, but it was definitely fun while it lasted, and I will continue to try out new designs once I stock up on some more. Anyway, here are a few examples of some of the designs.
Day in the park at Berkeley with my friends Priya (left) and Johnalyn (right), I think all of these were done by Priya
A combo of mine and priyas on my hands, this is by far my favorite look, partly because of how dark they came out, and I believe it lasted for about a week, I remember this is how my hands looked for the first week of school Spring semester. Seems so long ago….

Blame it on my A.D.D baby
For the past 3 nights in a row I have gone to bed was between 5am and 6am for the first 2 nights it was to study for my final on Wednesday. Then Wednesday night after work I decided to take a night off from studying and hangout with friends, but we ended up talking until the wee hours of the night.
But here I am now, on campus studying for my last 2 finals which will be tomorrow. I’m sure I won’t actually post this until later, but I felt like typing it now just because I needed a slight diversion from studying for a few minutes ( I’m doing some extreme multitasking at the moment, I have like 9 different tabs open on my browser right now, switching back and forth between music and studying and more music and reminders and now this blog post)
Speaking of music, that’s the reason I wanted to blog anyway. Just in the past couple hours of sitting here and working on my final study guides, I have fallen in love with a new musician and a new band (well, they’re new to me) the band being AWOLNATION – which began with my obsession with they’re song sail, but I ended up listening to what I believe to be their entire cd and LOOOOOOVE IT! Also I just got into Hugo. I’ve been hearing his cover of jay z’s 99 problems on the radio (94.7) for a while now, but I just heard a bunch of his other songs now which turned out to be pretty fucking awesome.
Ok. I need to bring an end to this diversion and get back to studying

Roll Away Your Stone
Wow. It has been an unbelievably long time since I updated this thing.
So much has changed in the last 9 months. I moved to a new apartment (just right next door, but new digs none the less), I tried a semester of writing for my schools newspaper (which I’m currently taking a break from), I got my tragus pierced, I started my own jewelry line, and finally, finally, finally got a car, just to name the main updates.
I don’t really have a good excuse for my absence. Once the fall semester got started, I became incredibly busy – with newspaper and school and life- then once the semester was over I just got lazy. I began to procrastinate. Then I started taking fewer and fewer pictures, then eventually considered stopping my blog altogether. But it’s the middle of a new semester, I’m a lot less busy, and I’ve had a lot of time to think.
After longingly paroozing pages and pages of other peoples blogs – real fashion bloggers – I have come to the realization that I am not photogenic enough, nor do I have the financial means to own the quantity of clothing I crave to have - a blog like those real fashion bloggers (sea of shoes, flawless mistake, fade to black, cheap thrills, a fraction of fashion – to name my top blog idols). So I thought to myself: Cayla, you need to stop comparing yourself to those you look up to. Stop trying to be like them. Stop trying to make your blog like their blogs. Make a blog that’s original, all your own, a blog that’s yours. So I realize now that I need to reshape my blog.
It’s a new year, a new semester at school, its time to try something new. So I know now that my photos aren’t going to be as appealing as some (like Cheap Thrills. And my wardrobe won’t be as expansive as some (like Sea of Shoes). And my hair won’t be as cool as some (like in a Fraction of Fashion). But I do know that my blog will be a reflection of me for just who I am. I also realize that because my wardrobe is not exactly up to par with the way I would like it to be, that my posts will be focused more on my writing, and posts of things that I like, or would like to have, or ideas that come to mind, and etcetera etcetera….
So, how do I ring in a new blog post? Well…nothing epic.
But here’s some pictures I’ve taken recently:
These may seem totally random. But these are all from this really cool furniture store out here in my hometown. Me and My mom were walking around there today - window shopping of course, because I'm too broke too buy - and I snapped a few pictures of items I would like to have to furnish my place with!
Why yes, that is a saddle sold at a furniture store
A super tiny tea set, like the size of the tip of my thumb
Like from a carousel
One of my favorite things about this place, there were books everywhere!! Such a wide range sold for cheap prices :D
1940's style parking meter
My all time fave piece in the place, but the least probable to obtain ($700!)
authentic old-timey kitchen stove
Can you tell I was having fun?
Well I think I've done a sufficient amount of posting for my first post in a long while. It may seem like its all about furniture now, but there will be more variation in my upcoming posts!!
Ta-ta for now
*P.S*
What have I been listening to lately you ask?
-everything by Mumford and Sons
-everything by Florence and the Machine
....over and over and over.......

Paris Tokyo New York London
I was passing the time browsing various pictures of Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen on olsensanonymous today, which really had me jonesin for some more jewelry. There also happened to be an advertisement for a discount on this amazing, mouth watering, exactly what Im looking for – ring at seventh door. I really really really want it, but its about 20 dollars more than I was expecting to spend on a 2finger ring. But I haven’t had much luck finding any other realistically priced rings that tickled my fancy. This particular connector cross ring though? Tickles like no other. This is seriously the perfect ring and I must have it!!!! The search is finally over. I think I'm just going to wait a little while to see if the price might go down a bit. If not, I just may have to splurge. Either way, Im keepin my fingers crossed for sure. Wish me luck
pictured above are some snapshots of what I've been wearing these past couple of days (the new tank is from target), as well as a picture of the cross ring I really want.

Obsessed
For those who know me well ( and there’s not many who read this blog) , they are aware that when I get into something, I REALLY get into it - to the point of obsession. My friends and family like to refer to this phenomena as my “phases”. These phases occur when my intertest in something (usually a particular book, movie or t.v show) are heightened excessively and I spend seemingly endless amounts of time talking about, researching and geeking out over said paraphanalia. The most memorable of these phases was the superman phase, in which I went as far as to paint my room red and blue, slept on a superman bedspread, bought the movie, soundtrack, poster and countless other objects relating to it. One of my recent phases was the star trek phase, which was caused by the release of the epic movie. But right now I’m in my newly reincarnated Avatar: the Last Airbender phase. I’ve always been a fan of the show, since the very first episode back in 2005 and have loved it ever since. But the series ended back in 2008, so I haven’t gotten the chance to get all crazy over it. At least not until recently. Of course the new live action version movie from M. Night Shamalamadingdong is coming out (and believe me I am counting down the days because I will be in theaters opening day watching that movie). Luckily for my impatient self I stumbled upon the series available on Netflix for instant play. So for the past week or so I’ve been re- watching episodes and even re-watching the episodes I’ve re-watched), as well as researching (yes, researching) the show, ,visiting numerous fansites and re- watching the trailer for the new movie.
But I digress. The whole point of this post was to share with you (whoever you are) the fact that I was recently obsessed with obtaining the perfect 2-finger ring, which lead me to order one from urban outfitters.com, and anxiously awaiting for it to arrive on my doorstep any day now. Also that just the other day I ordered a Last Airbender inspired necklace from Hot Topic.com and I am now anxiously awaiting that to arrive in the mail as well. Yet somehow I ended up ranting and raving about my crazy-ness. Ah well, It is now 1 in the morning, and I think I have done enough damage so I’m going to bed now. Until next time
~Cayla~
p.s That ring is the one that I ordered. I couldn't get a picture of the necklace up, but I'll post it once I have it in person
